YDB Records releases DUB STYLE SPACE DOG double-album
YDB Records has released the first and second full-length recordings by DUB STYLE SPACE DOG. The albums are titled by the days in which they were recorded: '5-26-05' & '1-1-06'. Each album is 45 minutes long, for a total of 1.5 hours of keyboard exploitation. The first album is mostly improvised, taking a dub-style approach that ranges from scary goth-like tones of early Cure to giddy reggae recalling the likes of Lee "Scratch" Perry and 80s synth-dance of a New Order flavor. The second album was approached in a slightly different manner, though retaining much of the improv spirit: The songs were written and immediately recorded in a matter of hours. No more than 10 minutes at the very most were spent on the writing and recording of a single song. The result is a batch of further-developed songs that maintain the experimental DUB STYLE SPACE DOG spirit while allowing repetition and definition. The music from this double-album release is ideal for film scores and further development and sampling by other artists. DUB STYLE SPACE DOG is a living example of order arising naturally through chaos; both literally and metaphorically.
